Permission granted.

For the last several weeks, I've witnessed unfortunate spreading of disinformation around 2 bills.
0:53:14
And I asked the question, why?
0:53:18
Why would we want to continue to divide communities in a time when we must be united.
0:53:28
I represent District 31, which I always say represents the best of New York City, which is its diversity.
0:53:35
We have black, brown, Asian, we have one of the most vibrant Jewish communities, and we live side by side.
0:53:42
The language that continues to be portrayed in the media has been wildly inaccurate.
0:53:50
This past weekend, I joined my colleague council member Williams for a ride along in the 105 precinct where I got to spend time with my commanding officer and our foot patrol and other officers.
0:54:03
And a lot of what's been shared is just not true.
0:54:07
There's no paperwork.
0:54:09
The only paperwork that's being filled out is when there's an arrest.
0:54:13
The officers fill out each night reports either on their phones or on the computer.
0:54:20
Each night, when they are about to get off, they go into the precinct and they tag their device.
0:54:29
Most officers turn on their device at a level 1 because they do not know if it's going to s escalate to a level 2 or 3.
0:54:37
That means this information is already being tagged.
0:54:41
We want to work with the admin ratio to implement this as seamlessly as possible because the police officers are the ones protecting our community.
0:54:51
Many of them are brothers and our sisters and we know them too.
0:54:56
We cannot continue to alienate this counsel, this body with our community.
0:55:02
And so we have to do better.
0:55:04
And with that, I vote I on these pieces of legislation to override the veto.
0:55:09
Thank you.
