Permission to explain my vote.

Permission granted,
Speaker 7
1:15:01
thank you so much.
1:15:03
If solitary confinement doesn't exist and we should have no problem overriding the veto and setting it into law, just one point.
1:15:11
Another point I'd like to make is that NYPD data from 2022 shows that out of 15,102 recorded stops, Almost 90% of all stops were black and Latinx folks, specifically 59% were black.
1:15:27
And 30% were Latinx.
1:15:29
65% of them resulted in no arrest and no summons, and that is exactly why we need the how many stops act.
1:15:38
The passage of this legislative package and intro 586 in particular will bolster the civil liberties of New Yorkers across the 5 boroughs and help cultivate a stronger relationship between the NYPD and our communities, 1 predicated on trust and integrity.
1:15:53
This bill will provide the public and lawmakers alike with a complete and honest accounting of the way the police interact with our neighbors.
1:16:00
Helping us target and address the ugly vestiges of Stop and Frisk policing that are once again appearing in the communities we represent.
1:16:08
I'm proud to be a part of this council to have cast my vote for this historic package.
1:16:12
It is an eye on both, and I look forward to ensuring that these laws are implemented and upheld faithfully.
1:16:18
And I'd like to thank the speaker, this body, and the families, the many, many families of the dums of police violence that have to share their stories over and over again.
1:16:29
And to my council members, to my colleagues, to our one colleague, councilor, who has himself experienced solitary confinement to my colleagues who have family members who have experienced solitary confinement Thank you for sharing your stories.
1:16:42
Thank you.
