Over a decade ago, as a youth activist, I became involved with the gender justice movement in our city to ensure that all survivors of gender based and domestic violence were received with care and compassion.

Today, I am proud to move legislation that prioritizes their safety.

Too often domestic violence survivors are unable to make essential security repairs to their homes due to high costs.

Inter 39A will address this issue by ensuring survivors have access to free lock changes, personal safety alarms, and door and window repairs.

These services are critical to keeping survivors safe in their homes.

The bill also ensures referrals to services that set survivors up for long term success, including counseling, safety planning, and housing, and legal services.
