Council Member Sanchez passionately advocates for a resolution that would enable the City Council to sue the administration for failing to implement adopted housing voucher laws. She emphasizes the necessity of this action to help longstanding New Yorkers and those in shelters to find permanent housing, confronting evictions, homelessness, and housing affordability crises. Sanchez appreciates the support from the speaker, deputy speaker, Council Member Keban, and her fellow council members in striving to provide housing for the city's vulnerable citizens.

I wasn't looking at my talking points when you called on me.
0:42:38
Would allow us to to sue the administration so that they would implement thefts city package.

Access to housing vouchers can help long time New Yorkers avoid eviction that push them into the shelter system, and those already residing in the system transition into permanent housing.
0:42:53
Last summer, this council overrode the mayor's veto of our city fuffs housing voucher bills to remove these barriers, and because we recognize the need to confront the intersecting crises of rising evictions, record homelessness, and housing affordability.

In spite of these realities, the administration signaled its intentions to violate city enacted laws by this New York City council and thereby block newly eligible New Yorkers experiencing homelessness or being at risk of becoming homeless from accessing those vouchers.

So I just want to thank the speaker, the deputy speaker, council member Keban, and colleagues in the council for your support of these efforts to house the most vulnerable New Yorkers.
