Carolina Salgado offers follow-up remarks to Council Member Amanda Farias, detailing her inability to prepare additional testimony due to responding to a recent RFP which threatens the displacement of Port Side New York. Salgado recounts how the EDC had previously promised support for Port Side at the Atlantic Basin as a community giveback but has failed to fulfill these commitments. She advocates for council involvement and legislative action to address the limited control over the EDC's actions and emphasizes the need for change to support community interests.

I will say, 1, you have 72 hours to submit, but you're actually ready.
Speaker 5
2:29:13
Oh, it's coming.
Speaker 1
2:29:13
Okay.
2:29:14
Great.
2:29:14
You can still submit.
2:29:15
And I I Yeah.
2:29:17
Exactly.
2:29:17
All and any additional pages that you'd like to add to it, please.
Speaker 5
2:29:20
Yeah.
2:29:20
No.
2:29:20
I mean, I I honestly wasn't able to prepare one in time as we did respond to the RFP that was due last night, the easy put on RFP for Atlantic Basin, which would displace us.
2:29:30
So there we go.
2:29:30
Years of not only did the EDC promise a home called for port side, a fully realized port side Atlantic basin as a pro as a community give back to reduk, by the way, for a Reduk that was not happy about other decisions CDC made.
2:29:44
The EDC made representations of the harbor operations committee.
2:29:47
It was a promise to the maritime community.
2:29:49
At City of Water Day.
2:29:51
You know, they dumped us completely.
2:29:53
It was a fight.
2:29:53
Thanks to counsel on Carlos Manchan could even get the ship back there.
Speaker 13
2:29:57
Mhmm.
Speaker 5
2:29:58
And, you know, they've got an RFP out that would would would displace us.
2:30:02
And this kind of thing goes on and on.
2:30:04
And, you know, what I was able to and willing to constructively engage on those Zoom calls that Alexa set up, you know, weekly Zoom calls were two and a half months last year to work.
2:30:15
It was crowdsourced, you know, traffic management.
2:30:19
And but this they need to do better, and and there really needs to be counsel involvement.
2:30:24
And I think, honestly, we need this act because the EDC is not a city agency.
2:30:28
And so you don't get to vote on their budget, and there's very limited control.
2:30:31
And if they won't do the right thing, on their own or with community input like this, there needs to be a change.
2:30:37
Thank you.
