New York City Public Schools collaborated with Arcini Partners throughout the process of creating the CUNY Streamlining Acceptance Program, focusing on accessibility, communication, and student engagement.

  • Collaboration was ongoing from the start to ensure messaging resonated with students and remained accessible.
  • Efforts included translating materials for the program’s landing page and distributing information through various channels, including schools, community partners, and direct communication to families and students.
  • Strategies to reach out to students without email access involved mailing information to their homes and distributing copies at schools.
  • The initiative ensured consistent messaging and support across different levels of the New York City Public School system and its partners.

1:12:38
I'm involved with you guys.
Melanie Mac
1:12:41
Thank you.
1:12:41
Kristen's gonna walk through the planning process and then can cast our QD partners.
Kristen Harris
1:12:52
Yep.
1:12:52
Okay.
1:12:53
Thank you for the question.
1:12:54
So we like I said, we started very early on and we collaborated at every at every stage, uplifting the things that we know to be true about our students, what we know is gonna resonate in the messaging.
1:13:07
So we collaborate did with Arcini Partners from from start to finish, and it hasn't finished yet.
1:13:15
So we're still collaborating definitely gave advice and and suggestions for what needed to be a part of the landing page.
1:13:23
And ensured that there were translated letters on the landing page to ensure that we were able to make it as accessible as possible.
1:13:32
And wanted to share we we shared the data of, like, completion just so we knew what how the progress we were making And so at every stage, we were we were synced.
1:13:42
We were tuned in to what was happening in our progress, and we made pivots.
1:13:47
If schools didn't have the information they needed, we made sure that they were they were able to get that.
1:13:51
We also just had a kinda cascade of communication just on New York City Public School side, making sure that from every level, our our different central offices knew about this program because many central offices support schools directly.
1:14:05
So we wanted to make sure it was all one voice.
1:14:07
Everybody knew the same thing, and everybody was communicating the same goals.
1:14:11
And supports and resources that we had available.
1:14:15
Again, we're making sure that our community partners understood what was going on because not only are they in our schools, our students are going to after school programs where they are also being supported through the financial aid and and college application process.
1:14:28
So we wanted to make sure that information was everywhere.
1:14:31
And our community partners were working in lockstep with us to ensure that students not only knew about it, but acted on this this this initiative.
1:14:42
And, again, we sent email let letters or messages to of our families through our messenger system that our DIT department created.
1:14:55
So those those emails went directly to families in their language.
1:15:00
We also text students multiple times to let them know this was going on.
1:15:03
So making sure that we were canvassing, not just disseminating the information, but also making sure that they knew where to get the help and the resources.
1:15:12
For the technical, like, execution of the application.
Rita Joseph
1:15:16
But if I don't have email, how else can I get that information?
Kristen Harris
1:15:20
So we we made sure that our schools had had all of that.
1:15:25
So if they didn't get a letter, the letter's got mailed to their house, and schools got a copy of the letter.
1:15:31
And so if they they had they disseminated those letters in school, as well as those letters got to them at their home, at their address we had on file.
1:15:40
So we wanted to make sure both they received it at their school and at their home.
