And I know I I might the the first couple of questions might be a little bit just called asking for you to explain a little bit about it.
0:10:12
What's your testimony?
0:10:13
So in the the last 2 years, since the creation of OTI, kind of the folding in of all these relevant agencies.
0:10:22
You mentioning your testimony that this been helpful to improving data analysis and high quality data.
0:10:29
Can you expand a little bit on on a how that's happened.

Yes.
0:10:33
Absolutely.

The the the office of data analytics, the the legacy mayor's office of data analytics we have 3 main teams.
0:10:41
We have a team of data scientists that are actually huge users of open data themselves, so we get asked for need to answer questions about New York City Government using Open Data.
0:10:52
We also have a engineering and governance practice.
0:10:56
And then also the open data team.
0:10:57
So bringing together the technical team that manages sort of the that manages the pipelines that move data from one place to another and having sort of more direct connection between our analysts and the technical team that builds those pipelines has really helped us, better understand, and better documents, and better make use of open data.

And I think, you know but the best datasets are datasets that are being used frequently by people because that way people notice when there's issues or if they have questions about the dataset that leads to better documentation.
0:11:32
If questions are then being answered and and memorialized in the documentation themselves.
0:11:37
And that's what I was referring to with sort of that rigorous cycle is that as users of open data, being more closely connected to the to sort of all members of the open data team and the the the formally distributed across 2 agencies, open data team I think has really has has really improved the that cycle of documentation and and publishing.
