The Department of Education tracks postsecondary success of graduates, particularly those aiming to become teachers in New York City, and plans to increase this number through strategic partnerships and programming.

  • The DOE tracks graduates from education programs to monitor their transition into teaching roles, especially within NYC.
  • There is a focus on ensuring students return to their communities to influence future leaders positively.
  • A partnership with the City University of New York (CUNY) strengthens this initiative by offering strategic education and certification paths.
  • Programs are designed to retain teachers and create a seamless transition from college to the education field, making graduates more prepared.

Yes, yes, and yes, yes, we do track that now, and yes, we will be looking to increase that.
2:20:14
That's the the the ultimate goal, and this is real change for us.
2:20:19
You know, our job doesn't stop when a child walks across with a cap and gown or walks across the state and gets a diploma.
2:20:25
Our job is to make sure that kid that that's young person successful, whether they go to college, they go into the workforce, they're gonna become a teacher.
2:20:32
So one of the things we are doing is tracking postsecondary, the success of our graduates, and that will be true for the education program.
2:20:40
We don't just want them become teachers.
2:20:42
We want them to become teachers in New York City.
2:20:44
We don't even just want them to come teachers in New York City.
2:20:46
Wanna come back to want them to come back to the neighborhoods they they grew up in to now create the the leaders of tomorrow.
Rita C. Joseph
2:20:53
Since KUNY has a partner since Pecuny has a partnership with New York City Public School, is there going to be a design program to make sure we recruit teachers.
2:21:00
There's a teacher program through our community.
2:21:03
We're giving acceptance letters to our high school students.
2:21:05
There should be a pipeline where we create pilot programs to track and retain and again let teachers teach.
Dan Weisberg
2:21:11
Yes.
2:21:12
Yes.
2:21:12
And and so CUNY, as you know, is our main partner.
2:21:15
Not only hybrid partner, but our main partner.
2:21:18
And so we are For as an example, we are working very closely with them.
2:21:24
We don't just want our our students who wanna become teachers have a chance to take college courses.
2:21:30
We wanna make sure they're taking college courses, which get them towards the education degree and certification.
2:21:35
So that's somewhere working very hard with with CUNY on to make sure that the the opportunities our kids are getting are very strategic.
2:21:43
And so they can go they can go to Brooklyn College, they can go to Queens College education programs seamlessly and be ahead of the game when they graduate.
