Avenue NYC and Neighborhood 360 programs build organizational capacity by providing grants that require hiring a full-time dedicated person to manage and enhance small business and commercial corridor development.
- The programs aim to build organizations' capacity through dedicated staffing and training on assessing and addressing commercial corridor challenges.
- They offer training on outreach to stakeholders and development of a scope of work for identified challenges.
- Organizations retain the learned skills for future application, ensuring long-term benefits beyond the grant period.
- Grantees serve as ambassadors for the larger services offered by the NYC Department of Small Business Services, facilitating access to resources for tackling red tape and direct support to small businesses.

So the avenue of YC and neighborhood 360, this helps build the capacity of the organization because as part of those grants, they have to hire a dedicated full time person to really work on this grant.
0:57:58
As part of those grants, organizations learned about how to assess the challenges on their commercial corridors.
0:58:06
They also learn how to do outreach to the stakeholders within the corridors that they're serving.
0:58:12
And then working with my team, work on a scope of work that can address some of the challenges that they have identified.
0:58:18
So this is a part of building a capacity.
0:58:20
So even once the grant ends, this organization is left with those skills on how to, you know, really identify some of these issues and how to think through ways of addressing those concerns.

Further, we always connect all of our grantees back to the larger services that we have at SBS, whether it's NYC Best, who can help get through the red tape or bringing out our mobile mobile unit who can come directly to those commercial corridors and support I mean, and hear some of the concerns directly from those small businesses.

So our grantees basically act like an ambassador to some of the services that we have at SBS and to kind of really promote some of the larger resources that the agency has to support commercial quotas and small businesses.
