With your help and under leadership of our hospital's chair.
1:15:59
I know we will be successful, so it's not if, but when we will secure our level 1 or 2 trauma facility in Rockaway.
1:16:07
My last question for you is, can you update us on this status of the contract negotiations with the doctors, counsel, SCIU.
1:16:16
We wanna ensure safe levels of staffing and work conditions for our healthcare workers providing care to New Yorkers.
1:16:22
And I know you and I talk all the time in terms of the staff at Health And Hospital, and you've always been tremendously compassionate to the staff.
1:16:32
So just wanted to understand the update there.
Mitch Katz
1:16:34
Right.
1:16:35
Right.
1:16:35
Well, as you know, you know, happy doctors and nurses make happy patients.
1:16:40
It's a very simple formula.
1:16:42
And if if your doctors and nurses are not happy with your system, they are not going to deliver the best care.
1:16:49
So we are very much in negotiations.
1:16:53
It is the the doctor's union is a complicated one because it's separate negotiations with the city for where the city employed doctors Mount Sinai for the Mount Sinai employee doctors, NYU for the NYU employee doctors, and PAGNEY, for the PAGNEY employed doctors.
1:17:16
So it's really a sort of simulcast of these are all doctors who work for us, but in 4 different systems.
1:17:25
So it's not easy to resolve.
1:17:27
The goal is fair compensation, equity across our sites.
1:17:33
And, you know, I'm very optimistic that we will be able to achieve it.
1:17:38
We have a a great group of doctors.
1:17:40
I love if you, you know, see our doctors.
1:17:43
We're the only system.
1:17:44
We're the doctor's look like our patients.
1:17:47
Many of them have incredibly inspiring immigrant stories of going with their parents serving as translators, as little children, and it was something we would never allow anymore.
1:17:59
But, you know, people who made a commitment that, you know, when I grow up, I'm going to become a doctor.
1:18:06
And we we had a we did a profile recently of one of our docs who never thought she would be a surgeon but learn to sew with her grandmother in India.
1:18:18
And when she because she had learned how to do this fine stitching when she was in the OR, the surgeons were just amazed.
1:18:26
At her ability as a medical student to stitch things up because, of course, it's really the same skill.
1:18:33
And she would they told her you should become a surgeon, and she became a surgeon and works in our system.
1:18:39
So we're very proud of the doctors that we have, and we're committed to fair and equitable salaries for them.
