Specialized care and comprehensive legal representation for youth cases, including eligibility for other forms of relief like Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), are being explored.

  • Pilot programs, such as those involving two SIJS cases, have been conducted to assess specialized support needs.
  • The Mayor's Office for Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) is actively seeking ways to increase access to SIJS, viewing it as life-changing for immigrant youth.
  • Challenges in access to legal support and barriers within the family courts are acknowledged, with efforts underway to address and maximize existing capacities.
  • Collaboration with experts to design and implement tailored solutions for the complex needs of youth cases is in progress.
