Molly Schaeffer discusses challenges faced by legal nonprofits, focusing on the balance between providing representation and procedural help amid increasing demand.

  • The primary challenge is managing the influx of cases with limited resources and providing short-term stabilization.
  • There's an emphasis on finding a high-volume, low-touch approach to quickly assist asylum seekers.
  • The goal is to start the legal clock for asylum seekers and get them on the right pathway.
  • Nonprofit legal service providers report unrealistic deliverables for the funding available in the administration's RFPs.

I mean, I think it it really comes down to this idea of representation versus proceed help.

Again, we're we're really doing this this short term stabilization to get everybody clock started and to really get them on the pathway, especially because we know when we started even that the capacity of everybody was so limited with so many people coming into the city that we needed to figure out something high volume, low touch that we could do quickly to get people on the right path.

And then figure out what we do to adequately source the field or sorry, adequately resource the field.
