Interim Director Molly Schaeffer explains that program debit cards are strictly limited to grocery, deli, and botaca purchases, primarily for food and baby supplies.
- Debit cards can only be used at groceries, delis, or botacas.
- Cards are restricted to buying food, baby supplies, and other necessary items for kids or pregnant individuals.
- Recipients must sign an affidavit, acknowledging the card's intended use.
- The affidavit serves as an additional measure to ensure proper understanding and compliance with the program's terms.

There's a lot of misinformation flying around about the program, one of the pieces of misinformation that I hear a lot is that these debit cards could be used anywhere.

Tell us about where they can and can't be used and what restrictions are in place to prevent them from being used where they shouldn't be used.
Molly Schaeffer

So the way that the card works is that it has certain restrictions of types of vendors.
1:00:44
So it's only can be used in groceries, delis, or botacas.
1:00:49
And so specifically on food or baby supplies or other supplies needed for kids or pregnant individuals.
1:00:56
And so, and we make everybody sign an affidavit and make everybody understand exactly what they're for.
