Access to the Mayor's Office of Asylum Seeker Operations (OASO) help center is appointment-based, primarily serving individuals currently in OASO's care.

  • Access is granted to staff and individuals with appointments.
  • Priority is given to asylum seekers currently in OASO's care, including those cycling through the system.
  • Services extend to individuals previously in OASO's care for specific follow-up needs, like work permit applications.
  • The Mayor's Office for Immigrant Affairs (MOIA) serves individuals outside OASO's immediate care.

In particular, who has access to the help center?
Molly Schaeffer
3:01:50
The staff that works there and the individuals who are have who has appointments, who have appointments.
Alexa Avilés
3:01:56
So it's appointment based.
Molly Schaeffer
3:01:57
It's appointment and based.
Alexa Avilés
3:01:59
Okay.
3:02:00
And does anyone who needs help with TPS, let's say, whether you've been here 5 minutes or 20 years?
3:02:08
Be able to access the help center?
Molly Schaeffer
3:02:11
So as we mentioned before, we really focused our asylum application help center and all of our satellites on folks currently in our care.
3:02:19
Moya's Moya's Providers and Moya's role is everybody else.
Alexa Avilés
3:02:26
Got it.
3:02:26
And so when you say currently in our care, if they are cycling through the system, they've been displaced and are now waiting, will they be eligible to get access?
Molly Schaeffer
3:02:40
So anyone who's currently in our care in any form of that is eligible to get access to our asylum application help center depending on how many appointments we have on that particular Okay.
Alexa Avilés
3:02:51
So as long as they're in the system, some touchpoint, they could not be necessarily a shelter resident at that point in time, could act as the health center.
Molly Schaeffer
3:03:01
And so, for example, the folks who we know 66% of folks have left our care at this point for the folks who had an asylum application filed with us, and it's 6 months later, and it's time for work permits, we will take those in individuals as well.
Alexa Avilés
3:03:20
Okay.
3:03:20
So it's as available.
