Vanessa Hunt highlights the disappointment felt by families and the frustration at IBM being solely blamed for the technology failure.

  • The primary frustration was the impact on parents, families, students, and teachers.
  • Vanessa Hunt, being a parent herself, empathizes with the added stress such failures cause on already hectic days.
  • Blaming the failure solely on IBM technology was a significant source of frustration.
  • Despite these challenges, Hunt remains optimistic about the partnership with the Department of Education (DOE) and confident in preventing future issues.

And my final question is, what would you say as part of senior leadership at IBM?
1:47:37
Was your biggest frustration that day, that morning when the system was failing.
Vanessa Hunt
1:47:42
Of course, the biggest frustration is for the parents and the families, students, the teachers.
1:47:47
I'm a mom myself.
1:47:48
I know what that does to your already very busy day.
1:47:51
Nobody at IBM was happy to see that.
1:47:55
That said, knowing the partnership we have with the city of New York and how seriously and personally we take it, knowing that we really had done everything we can to make sure that this technology was working above and beyond what it was contracted to do.
1:48:09
Hearing it be summarized as an IBM Technology problem was, of course, frustrating.
1:48:14
That said, I really am very optimistic and encouraged by the partnership with DOE over the past few weeks that I'm I'm very confident that not only are we going to avoid this from happening again, but that we are going to work together to find the right solution that our families deserve.
