As many of us can imagine, driving a rideshare vehicle is a tough job.

It often requires 10 or more hour days going back and forth between some of the farthest and busiest corners of our city.

And even still, a lot of drivers are not bringing home the profits they need to support their families.

New York City is home to roughly a 100,000 rideshare drivers and our rideshare economy has continuously provided a huge opportunity for working class and immigrant communities to have financial stability and upward economic mobility.

That's why we pass local law 33 to allow for drivers to opt into interior advertising for in for hire vehicles providing drivers with an opportunity to earn a passive income from advertisements and still allowing customers to mute or turn off the tablet, play games, connect with our drivers, and see local businesses on their screen.

That is about allowing for more money for hardworking drivers and creating a bridge between the driver and New Yorkers to personalized questions to learn more about our drivers.

This amendment we're passing today makes a very important clarification that drivers would receive a minimum And let me say that again, a minimum of 25 percent of the gross revenue generated from the in car advertising.
