Thank you, chair.

As many of us can imagine, driving a rideshare vehicle is a tough job.
0:01:22
It often requires 10 or more hour days going back and forth between some of the farthest and busiest corners of our city.
0:01:29
And even still, a lot of drivers are not bringing home the profits they need to support their families.
0:01:33
And build the intergenerational wealth that our hardworking families in New York City deserve.
0:01:38
New York City is home to roughly a 100,000 rideshare drivers and our rideshare economy has continuously provided a huge opportunity for working class and immigrant communities to have financial stability and upward economic mobility.
0:01:50
That's why we pass local law 33 to allow for drivers to opt into interior advertising for in for hire vehicles providing drivers with an opportunity to earn a passive income from advertisements and still allowing customers to mute or turn off the tablet, play games, connect with our drivers, and see local businesses on their screen.
0:02:10
That is about allowing for more money for hardworking drivers and creating a bridge between the driver and New Yorkers to personalized questions to learn more about our drivers.
0:02:21
This amendment we're passing today makes a very important clarification that drivers would receive a minimum And let me say that again, a minimum of 25 percent of the gross revenue generated from the in car advertising.
0:02:33
Adding the word minimum language will encourage competition among tablet, providers, and rideshare companies that would benefit drivers directly.
0:02:44
Adding gross revenue language is to ensure that drivers receive their share of the overall revenue and any administrative costs are not borne by the drivers.
0:02:53
So many New Yorkers depend on our drivers daily to get them around in our city safely.
0:02:58
It is about time we show up for them and expand the opportunities they have.
0:03:02
To generate more income for themselves.
0:03:04
This bill puts New York City rideshare drivers first, and I'm incredibly proud to have gotten this done for drivers across the city.

Thank you for the time, chair.
