Good morning.

Thank you, chair.

You took all my comments away and made them even more elegant than I would have.
0:04:15
But first and foremost, I wanna thank you majority majority leader for helping shepherd this legislation through for the hearing and for being a champion alongside me.
0:04:28
I also wanna thank council member, Batcher, who has been with us every step of the way, who is also deeply impacted by this legislation.
0:04:38
But most importantly, I have to thank the community members of Redhook who long before my time as council member.

Championed getting shore power in Redhook, the first on the East Coast.
0:04:52
That was directly a directly evolve from their work as advocates.
0:04:59
So we are at our best as legislators.
0:05:02
When bills we write reflect the residents' wants and desires and needs.
0:05:08
And so while this measure is far from perfect, it does begin to address an environmental impact and traffic mitigation concerns that long have gone unaddressed.
0:05:17
And as you mentioned, this is a climate justice win.
0:05:21
For our communities, but for our city.
0:05:24
As people know, idling cruise ship emissions are equal to 34,000 tractor trailer idling trucks, and in a more recent study, a 1,000,000 idling cars.
0:05:37
This will have a huge impact.
0:05:40
So I just wanna thank everyone.
0:05:42
I urge my colleagues to vote I and look forward to continuing to decarbonize our city, prioritize the health and wellness of our residents, and make sure that we are protecting our air and our water.
0:05:56
So thank you so much.
0:05:58
I vote I.
