So I just wanna understand about the tablets.
3:55:55
Because I believe that everybody has money if you could be clear on that, and then how they're used.
3:56:01
And then Securus, I think, is contractor.
3:56:04
There has I wanna know what their contract budget is, how long it is, and then there was a concern about privacy on that particular contract.
3:56:14
Those are my questions.
3:56:15
Do
Lynelle Maginley-Liddie
3:56:18
you wanna just talk about the budget?
Mala Srinivasan
3:56:24
Thank you for your question, council member.
3:56:27
The security contract.
3:56:29
We have a base contract that provides tablets to the population.
3:56:35
The contract the annual value of the contract is $5,400,000.
3:56:42
And the contract the renewal contract ends in the end of this calendar year 24.
Gale A. Brewer
3:56:50
Okay.
3:56:50
Are there any concerns about privacy?
3:56:53
How how is that handled in terms of people's information?
3:56:56
I mean, you know, we're all concerned about that cameras, AI, etcetera.
3:57:01
But is there some oversight on how information on the words private contractor, access to the tablets, how do you monitor and make sure that people's private information is not part of the private contract?
3:57:16
It's not just this contract, you know, but in general, we're concerned about privacy.
Lynelle Maginley-Liddie
3:57:20
That's something that our IT division works closely with OTI and when we're negotiating these contracts.
3:57:26
So that's something that's discussed as we're negotiating the contract.
Gale A. Brewer
3:57:30
That would you have the contract
Lynelle Maginley-Liddie
3:57:32
now?
3:57:34
That's correct.
Gale A. Brewer
3:57:36
So could somebody get back to me to make sure that this is being monitored I have heard a lot of complaints about it.
3:57:41
So that's why I'm asking.
3:57:43
If people are worried about their private information, you know, if it was you running it, they may not feel the same way.
3:57:48
But this is a private contract.
3:57:49
There.
3:57:50
Obviously, private conversations need to be private and not shared with a private contractor.
3:57:56
You understand what I'm trying to say.
3:57:58
And I understand that's not happening.
3:58:01
So I'd like to know from you what safeguards we have to be sure that this company is not taking any information that they shouldn't be.
Lynelle Maginley-Liddie
3:58:09
I will check with our IT division and get back to you on that.
3:58:11
Thank you.
