Matthew Fraser explains the CitiNet upgrade as a significant enhancement to the network's capacity, speed, and resilience.
- CitiNet is the backbone network supporting communication across city agencies.
- The upgrade increases the network's traffic capacity and the speed at which it can support traffic.
- Additional resiliency is added to prevent operational interruptions from infrastructural damages.
- The upgrade is part of a multi-phase plan improving both the core network and connection points.

Can you explain what the CitiNet upgrade is?
Matthew Fraser
1:48:09
Oh, so sure.
1:48:10
CitiNet, is the backbone network that supports communication throughout most of the agencies in the city.
Jennifer Gutiérrez
1:48:18
Okay.
Matthew Fraser
1:48:18
Now the reason why I say most because not every agency is what we consider to be a city net agency.
1:48:23
Some of them are partner agencies.
1:48:25
So the city net upgrade basically takes the capacity that's this the the amount of traffic that we can support in the speed at which we can support that traffic and provides a significant upgrade.
1:48:37
It also creates additional resiliency so that if we were to if we were to lose a site or a piece of fiber in the ground water break, we wouldn't interrupt the city's operating network.
1:48:48
So that's what the city net upgrade is to help.
Jennifer Gutiérrez
1:48:50
And and that is is that what phase 3 is?
Matthew Fraser
1:48:54
Phase 3 is it's a multi phase plan where we're updating the backbone core network, and then we're moving beyond the core network to upload.
1:49:02
Update the connection points into the network.
1:49:05
So phase 3 is the next step in both upgrading the core and the edge components.
Jennifer Gutiérrez
1:49:13
Okay.
1:49:14
Thank you.
