Look, I I completely understand that majority of renters in New York City are rent burden.
1:35:22
3rd of New York City renters are paying majority of their income and rent.
1:35:26
I think that's a majority of of residents.
1:35:28
Of districts like our chair.
1:35:32
I get I get it.
1:35:33
We also have no access to affordable homeownership in New York City except for a couple of a 51 council districts.
1:35:38
So that's a reality that we've unfortunately come to to experience in New York City.
1:35:44
So that's why we wanna create those pathways.
1:35:46
We also wanna get the worst landlords out of operation in New York City.
1:35:49
I appreciate your warmth and and interest in in receiving a major new investment in these areas.
1:35:56
I I hope that you take it as a a positive indicator that the council and the controller and public advocate are putting forward a plan that leans into existing HPD programs that are underutilized and not properly invested in by this mayor.
1:36:11
But if we were to allocate $2,000,000,000 over the next 4 years, could HPD spend that money effectively and make a major difference in addressing some of the affordable housing challenges that we have.
Adolfo Carrión Jr.
1:36:21
We we welcome additional resources and I
Lincoln Restler
1:36:24
will take that as a guess.
Adolfo Carrión Jr.
1:36:26
And we can execute.
1:36:27
You obviously saw it in the in the last cycle.
1:36:30
And and let me just say to sort of tip my head to some of the work that we're doing and some advocacy groups are doing with us.
1:36:38
The community land trust initiatives that are going on around the city.
1:36:43
These are opportunities that have sort of been on the burner already that we're working on.
Lincoln Restler
1:36:48
So And that's why I hope you'll implore bill public land for public goods so that we ensure that when city property is getting redeveloped, it's going to nonprofit affordable housing developers, including CLTs.
1:36:59
But with that chair, I will defer back to you.
1:37:02
Thank you very much commissioner and team.
1:37:03
Thank you, Kelson.
