And when I stepped foot in the city council, the first thing I did was work to create a shoe path towards bringing affordable housing to Queen's, at William's point.
2:19:32
And being here today reaffirms that commitment and represents a crucial step in addressing the housing crisis our city is currently facing.
2:19:39
But not only did I keep the promise I made back in 2018, I worked towards securing historic AMI levels they will ensure affordability with units available for rent from a range below 30% of the area median income with a majority of them falling under the 80%, including 220 units for low income seniors and some reserved for formally homeless people.
2:20:03
This project stands as the most significant fully affordable housing initiative in 4 decades, and it's only the beginning.
2:20:09
My dedication during phase 1 paved the way for what we have before us.
2:20:13
A chance to complete what we started, a transformative moment in our shared journey, phase 2 Willet's Point.
2:20:20
This plan brings 1400 units of affordable housing, bringing the entire Willet's Point neighborhood to 2500 units of 100% of which are affordable.
2:20:31
It also enhances open and retail space a 250 room hotel, and the city's 1st fully electric privately funded soccer stadium that will be built a 100% union labor, serving as the economic engine that's driving this entire vision.
2:20:50
Beyond homes, this project will put money in the pockets of 1000 of New Yorkers with over 1500 permanent jobs and 14 over 14,000 construction jobs.
2:21:01
Will it's the Will it's point revitalization plan is not only initiating the construction of a historical project, is creating stability and security for a working class community that is struggling to make it, struggling to put a roof over their head and put food on the table.
2:21:17
The swath of land, once known as the Valley of ashes, is projected to generate 1,600,000,000 in the economic impact over the next 30 years.
2:21:26
And I wanna take this opportunity to thank mayor Adams for his partnership and support in this vision, as well as the New York City Football Club.
2:21:34
Will like me never stop believing that queens would be their home.
2:21:38
And, of course, to my brothers and sisters and labor for all that you have done to help this project come through, the partners at EDC, the Queen's Development Group, and the dedicated community leaders in the Willard's Point Task Force who support is essential for the project that has it all.
2:21:56
So thank you again, Cheah Riley.
2:21:58
Forgive me the opportunity to present.
2:22:00
What I believe is a game changer not just for Queen's, but for New York City.
2:22:04
Thank you.
