There are still some veterans of World War 2 that are living in the United States and here in New York City.

In fact, the National World War II Museum estimated that there are around 6869 to be exact, living World War 2 veterans in New York.

I can think of no better way to honor their legacy, their courage and their ultimate sacrifice than having the city recognize such a critical day.
