Hi.
1:34:44
Oh, there we go.
1:34:45
Good afternoon.
1:34:46
Thank you, chair Hudson, and the committee for having us here today to speak about an issue that AARP New York has has long been supportive of.
1:34:55
My name is Kevin Jones.
1:34:57
I'm the deputy director of advocacy for AARP New York.
1:35:01
And we represent 750,000 members in New York City all across the boroughs.
1:35:07
Older adults our New York's fastest growing demographic has already been mentioned here.
1:35:12
According to a report from Center for Urban Future, New York City 65 plus population, grew by 36% or about 363,000 people between 2011 2021.
1:35:24
These older adults are a tremendous asset to our city.
1:35:27
And play a driving force in our economy and our cultural life and basically act as the a giant volunteer base for a lot of the nonprofits in the city.
1:35:37
Still, they face many significant challenges that require unique policy solutions.
1:35:41
And older adults trust that the city will meet these complex needs by providing resources and protection throughout the work of all these agencies.
1:35:49
So I'm gonna submit written testimony, but I just wanted to say how much we appreciate the codification of this cabinet, which we were very supportive of when the when the mayor's office put that out.
1:36:00
And I also wanna think Council member Hudson and her staff are reaching out in advance.
1:36:05
We have provided some feedback as well.
1:36:08
So I said, I know there's several of us here.
1:36:10
So We will submit this in writing as well, and we'll continue to be in touch with your office through the process.
1:36:15
So thank you very much.
