Council Member Avilés expresses concerns about auto body shops in her district, which contains a mix of residential and industrial areas, and wants to see changes to address quality of life issues.
- Auto body shops in industrial zones have very few zoning restrictions and Avilés says they "just do what they want" with no enforcement
- This causes health and quality of life problems for the residential community
- Avilés wants to figure out how to balance being a "good neighbor" with the auto body shops while strengthening the industrial and manufacturing zones
- She has been working with the Department of City Planning on this issue for particular locations and looks forward to continuing to do so
