QUESTION

How does the city's proposed zoning changes affect businesses that sell liquor, cannabis, or tobacco products?

The proposed zoning changes do not affect any existing rules related to liquor, cannabis, or tobacco sales.

  • Corner stores are allowed under the proposal, but only for legal activities
  • Indoor agriculture is allowed in commercial areas if it is already legal outside
  • The proposal does not change any rules related to liquor, cannabis, or tobacco, as those are regulated outside of zoning

But my final question now and I would like to reserve a spot for the 2nd round is How does this proposal affect liquor, cannabis, and any store that would sell tobacco, and alcohol?

So there's special source of rules for all of those things that you mentioned.
1:33:33
And this does not affect any of those existing rules in the context of things like a corner store, We're enabling a corner store.
1:33:42
We're not allowing for an illegal activity in zoning.
1:33:46
We can only allow legal activities in zoning.
1:33:48
Similarly, for indoor agriculture, we're saying if it is legal in a commercial area outside, it's legal in a commercial area inside.
1:33:56
But the short answer to your question is, we do not change any of the rules on any of those areas.
1:34:01
Those are outside of zoning.
