Proposal 10 would simplify how amusement and recreation uses are categorized in zoning and allow a wider range of such businesses in commercial districts.
Outdated terms would be replaced with two new use categories. Small amusement facilities up to 10,000 sq ft would be allowed in C1/C2 districts. Size limits would not apply in C4-C7 districts.
"... and we would include similar business types that are not currently classified at all like laser tag, escape rooms, virtual reality gaming."

Let's go to the next proposal 10.
0:47:13
Zoning today, this relates to creating more opportunities for amusements, experiential opportunities, zoning has outdated terms for defining experiential retail and amusement businesses like virtual reality, or children's arcades, and often restricts these kinds of businesses to Kony Island or the city's industrial areas.

We would simplify and modernize how zoning treats amusements and recreational activities to make it clear that these businesses are loud indoors, and at a small scale, on a neighborhood street, and at a larger scale in office districts.

So we would combine many of the existing uses like billiard parlors, bowling alleys, mini golf into 2 newly defined categories.
0:48:06
1 would be amusement or recreation facilities, and the other would be outdoor amusement park.
0:48:12
And we would include similar business types that are not currently classified at all like laser tag, escape rooms, virtual reality gaming.
0:48:22
In C1C2 Districts, we would permit the amusement or recreation facilities up to 10,000 square feet There would be no size limitation in C4 to C7.
0:48:32
Outdoor amusements still prohibited.
0:48:35
Under c 1 to c 6, it would only be allowed in c 7, c 8, and manufacturing districts.
