The council member raises concerns that 30,000 helicopter tourist flights from the Downtown Manhattan Heliport (DMH) are not showing their tail numbers on flight tracking apps used by the public.
- The NYC Economic Development Corporation official states he is unaware of tail numbers being hidden from tour operators
- He says that even without tail numbers, they can identify operators based on aircraft type and location
- However, the council member argues the public does not have the same tools to track violations in real-time
- The official mentions they lack better tools beyond consumer apps for tracking flights

And then do we know why there are 30,000 helicopter tourist flights from DMH not showing up with their tail numbers on the flight tracking app that's utilized?
Anton Fredriksson

I'm I'm not aware of flight tail numbers being hidden from the tour operators.
0:37:15
If There are instances of that.
0:37:17
We will we will look into it.
Amanda Farías
0:37:18
There are a ton of instances.
0:37:19
I will start sending you my tweets every morning that I get.
0:37:24
From the folks.
Anton Fredriksson

Even if the tail number isn't there, I'll say we can still identify, you know, which operator it is based on the type of aircraft, where it is, but at that position, we can still identify.
0:37:34
So it's not like these complaints are not being accounted for?
Amanda Farías
0:37:38
Yeah.
0:37:39
I mean, I think I think that is the case.
0:37:41
I think a lot of folks feel like their 311 complaint is actually not being accounted for because there's an inability for them to properly report if the tail numbers are not being identified or being able to be shown, we don't necessarily have.
0:37:55
We as the public.
0:37:56
Me speaking on behalf of the public, don't necessarily have the tools that you might have to do the the tracking down of who that operator is and whether or not they're in violation in the moment that it has happened.
Anton Fredriksson

I wish we we had different tools or or or more improved tools.

I mean, I'm working with flight radar 24 on my my iPhone, like, like anyone else.
