  • The scheduling issues impacted his finances, ability to plan his time, and overall well-being.
  • He filed a Fair Work Week complaint with the Department of Consumer And Worker Protection last summer, but it has not been resolved yet.
  • Peltcher expresses hope for justice and thanks the committee for the opportunity to testify on the importance of the Fair Workweek Law for workers.

I'm a Starbucks worker at the Starbucks store at West Broadway And Leonard Street.
0:59:59
Prior to working as sorry.
1:00:00
Prior to working at Starbucks in New York.
1:00:02
I work at a store in Iowa, but it wasn't until the item to the city that I started to experience the best.
1:00:08
Scheduling issues that I've experienced now.
1:00:10
It was night and day, frankly, my hours have consistently fluctuated outside the 15%.
1:00:16
Allowed by the Fair Workweek Law, where I might receive have received 30 hours 1 week, 20 hours the next week while outside that 15% standard.
1:00:25
I was also had issues where I was being scheduled outside the availability windows that I had provided to my measure.
1:00:31
Eventually, things came to a head last summer, and I felt a Fair Work Week complaint last summer with the Department of Consumer And Worker Protection.
1:00:38
So it might be hard for those that don't depend on scheduled hours for it to understand how much an impact the scheduling of ours has on people like me, but it impacts everything.
1:00:46
It impacts how I plan my time off, my week to week.
1:00:49
Finances, what bills I'm able to pay, whether I'm able to pay my rent in a given month, everything to pay in on my hours.
1:00:57
So this is why the Fair Work with law and the work that they are doing, the DSW DCWP is doing is so important to workers like me.
1:01:06
Currently, my complaint has not been I filed it last summer, but I'm hopeful that I will get justice.
1:01:13
Yeah.
1:01:13
I wanted to thank the committee for hearing my testimony today.
