Good afternoon, and welcome all to the fiscal 2025 executive budget hearing for the committee on sanitation and sideways management jointly with the Committee on Finance.

This afternoon, we will discuss the DSNY fiscal 2025 executive expense budget and the executive capital commitment plan for fiscal year 2024 to 20 28.

I'd like to begin by thanking the members of the sanitation department for their hard work over the past year.

The sanitation department's fiscal year 2025 budget in the executive plan told rules 1,900,000,000, funding 9476 positions.

Budget actions in the executive plan decreased the S and Y's budget by 12,900,000 in fiscal year 24, and $5,300,000 in fiscal year 25 when compared to the preliminary plan.

The department's executive plan includes 10,000,000 of additional funding in fiscal year 2024 for higher than projected personnel spending across multiple program areas.

As well as funding in each year of the planned period for the waste containerization program, which was brought as a pilot to West Harlem as a revolutionary way to containerize trash in New York City.

So sanitation department's fiscal year's 24 to 28 capital commitment plan totals 1,600,000,000 and supports a 198 distinct projects.

The committee recently held a hearing on street cleanness in New York City, bolstering the city's ability to be prepared to keep our streets clean.

The committee would like to revisit some of these items and others, including the November planned pegs that were not restored, particularly the elimination of the community composting program.
