Council Member Vickie Paladino questions if local landscapers and tree pruners could provide pricing for district-specific projects rather than subcontracting to outside contractors.
- She notes projects often get outsourced to contractors from Long Island and Westchester
- Paladino suggests interviewing and getting prices from local service providers within the districts
- She states involving locals could be more efficient than current bureaucratic processes
- Paladino mentions her office provides additional funding for tree pruning in her district

The second thing I want to say is our capital projects.

Now we all know we get tied up in all the bureaucracy and the red tape and how we have to do this.
4:49:43
I was wondering, just a shortcut.
4:49:46
Is there any way possible that per district we could actually interview and ask the local landscapers, treat pruners, and all of that, if we could actually get prices from those that are more local rather than subletting this out to other contractors who may not even live in the 5 boroughs.

There's a lot of work that goes out to Long Island and and up to Westchester.
4:50:18
And these are people who live in the area.
4:50:21
Mhmm.
4:50:21
And I think it would be a really good idea.
4:50:24
Something may be worth exploring and at least seeing if they could get the proper licensing or whatever is required

So that we could really put get a handle on what's going on.
4:50:37
The tree pruning and all of that, my office does give you additional funding for that.

So I'm very happy.
