The parks department requires community groups, known as 'Friends of' groups, to help maintain dog runs.
- If an underserved area wants a dog run but does not have an existing 'Friends of' group, the parks department will work with the community to create one.
- This includes making connections with other successful 'Friends of' groups and empowering residents through initiatives like Partnerships for Parks.
- However, the parks department states that some form of community group championing and maintaining the dog run is required for it to be built and properly maintained.

So thank you and a good question.
5:05:17
We know that dog runs have become increasingly popular across the city.
5:05:22
We do and if someone if there is an area that was looking for a dog run, we do ask that there is as a group that can help maintain it.
5:05:31
We're doing a whole lot of work on our side through both partnerships for parks, through our Lead Screen initiative to help create and empower more friends of groups, but that generally is the way that works in terms of a dog run.
5:05:46
We need to have a a brands of group or a group to maintain it.
5:05:50
And we will work hand in hand with a local community to help to create 1, to help make introductions to other groups that have successfully done that, but there does need to be a group championing it on the ground.
