The Department of Parks and Recreation would need to conduct further analysis to determine the cost of having a second shift at all city parks.

  • Currently, there are 100 identified hotspots with active barbecuing and heavy activity that have a second shift.
  • To expand the second shift to all parks, an assessment is needed to identify additional areas with similar levels of utilization.
  • Based on this analysis, the department can provide a cost estimate for implementing a second shift citywide.

We so essentially, the reason for the second shift and that we break it out by hot spots is we identify those difficult areas, really busy areas in each park, where there's active barbecuing, where there's a lot of activity happening throughout the day.
3:30:44
And so we identified the 100 hotspots.
3:30:46
In order to expand that, we would look at we'd have to do an analysis of where are the additional spaces like that that have active barbecuing that are heavily utilized at certain hours of the day.
3:30:58
So that would be based on further analysis, and then we could come back to you.
