The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) and the Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) have a memorandum of understanding allowing them to share rent registration data.

  • HPD can use the shared data from DHCR for enforcement purposes
  • HPD does not anticipate needing any additional or different information from DHCR for the J-51 tax exemption and abatement program
  • The council member requested a copy of the memorandum of understanding, but HPD's legal team needs to review if they can provide it
