What is the list of J51 eligible buildings in Council Member Restler's district?

Council Member Lincoln Restler requests a list of co-ops and condos eligible for the J51 tax exemption program in his district to facilitate outreach and compliance with Local Law 97.

  • The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) indicates they can likely provide such a list by accessing public data.
  • HPD suggests collaborating with the Department of Finance to obtain the information.
  • Both HPD and Council Member Restler emphasize the importance of aggressive outreach to building owners regarding J51 and Local Law 97 compliance.

But the thing I wanted to ask is, we would love I would love to work closely with all of the buildings in my district that are eligible for j 51, especially because they have a lot of anxiety about local 197 to help them comply help them take advantage of this opportunity.

Do you have a list of either coups and condos that have assessed values, 45,000 units per $45,000 per unit by council district or by community district, or you could give me all of Brooklyn, and I could just sift through it, or some other list of buildings that are j 51 eligible that you can share with me.

I assume we could access that data, but I'll turn it on to my colleague.

For this, we look at publicly available Apartment Finance Records.
1:09:27
So probably what we would do is we should work with you and with the Department of Finance to make that information available.
Lincoln Restler
1:09:34
Okay.
1:09:34
Do you think it is feasible to provide me with a list?
1:09:37
Or
Kim Darga
1:09:38
I think it's public integration, so we should be able to, but we should check with folks to make sure.
Lincoln Restler
1:09:44
Okay.
1:09:44
It would be very helpful.
1:09:45
And, you know, we're trying our absolute best to do very aggressive outreach to all of our property managers, all of our building owners, our cofounder boards, to help facilitate sharing of information about local law 97 compliance, and I think this is critically important.
1:09:59
So the sooner that we could work together on that, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thank you.
1:10:11

And again, I want to turn it over to council member Feliz for a question.
