Council Member Brewer inquires about the transfer process between ASAP and ACE programs. Vice Chancellor Alvero explains the differences in funding and program structures, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen alignment and transfer support.

  • ASAP and ACE have different funding levels, resulting in fewer ACE slots
  • Some schools offer 2-year ACE programs for transfer students, while others have 4-year programs
  • CUNY is working on improving transfer support to prevent students from losing assistance after ASAP

Maybe we sort of answered this, but we all love ASAP, and we love ASAP.

So can one go?
0:38:56
I know you said there were fewer ASAP slots than ASAP slots.

So how does that work?

So great question.
0:39:08
But because the funding levels are so different, between the 2, then the numbers are are less.

0:39:22

0:39:26
So from freshmen all the way through 4 years, but that transfer piece we are currently working and having conversations.
0:39:33
And hopefully, I'll be testifying at some point soon about the exciting work that we're doing to strengthen that alignment and that transfer support so that students don't go from ASAP to nothing and having that transfer support.
0:39:47
But more broadly, we are wanting to replicate that transfer sport that currently exists within an ACE to the broader
