QUESTION

Why does having more intake sites not equate to less time spent for family placements?

The administrator explains that having more intake sites does not necessarily reduce the time spent for family placements in the shelter system.

  • Intake involves collecting a lot of information from families.
  • Staff also have to find available placements, which is competitive.
  • They want to ensure families do not spend excessive hours waiting for placement.
  • A feasibility study will be conducted to assess this further.

Because I I agree with councilmember on you know, it's very difficult, and I I don't understand why I'm not understanding how having more sites equates to more time spent.

So can I Yeah?
1:07:04
Give you some background on that.
1:07:07
One of the things is what what we found kind of what happened.
1:07:13
So intake, there's a lot of information that needs to happen.
1:07:18
It is also trying to find places and this competition for that also.
1:07:23
And so we wanna make sure that a information is shared the same.
1:07:27
But b, we also need to make sure that if we need to find spaces that would happen, for the families to go to.
1:07:33
So for us, it is not something that we wanna be able to have families spend so many more hours waiting for placement.
1:07:42
That's something that we have to really look at and think through.
1:07:45
So that's not, you know, top of my interest at this point.
1:07:48
So once we do a feasibility they will come back for that information.

Okay.
