Council Member Ariola argues that communities deserve advance notification before the installation of new street infrastructure like bike racks and bike lanes.

  • She says it's not City Council members who receive complaints when infrastructure changes happen without notice
  • Ariola supports initiatives like bike lanes but says communities should be notified beforehand
  • The proposed legislation would require notifying communities to reduce pushback or help find better locations for new infrastructure

So it's not tricky, and I'll tell you why it's not tricky.
1:41:17
Because we deserve those notifications.
1:41:20
Our communities deserve those notifications.
1:41:22
And it's not you that are receiving the complaints when they wake up and find out their bicycle racks outside their house or that that there is a bike a bike lane.
1:41:31
And, yes, we do support things like that.
1:41:33
We have supported things like that, and we deserve to know prior to, and that's why this legislation is so important.
1:41:39
Because if we can then notify our communities, then there could be either less pushback or a better place where you could do the placement of what you'd like to do.
