Council Member Brooks-Powers introduces legislation requiring the NYC Department of Transportation to develop guidelines for installing barriers in high pedestrian traffic areas during sidewalk repairs or construction.

This bill would also require the department of transportation to conduct a study on the effectiveness of borrowers and high pedestrian traffic areas through the city and develop guidelines no later than 6 months after the effective date of this local law, governing the installation of bowers during the repair or reconstruction of sidewalks, curb extensions, and pedestrian ramps.

The use of Volleys is an effective strategy in reducing traffic mashes and the resulting fatalities and injuries from these incidents, and all and so it is imperative that DOT develops a comprehensive approach to determining when and where ballot should be installed to keep everyone safe.
