What is the status of new street infrastructure and greenery in New York City?

The NYC Department of Transportation has been working on various capital projects involving new streets, sidewalks and medians, some of which include greenery.

  • The DOT has completed or is working on a number of capital projects with the Department of Design and Construction (DDC)
  • Many plaza projects have been undertaken, which incorporate greenery
  • There are few standalone median projects, making it difficult to quantify those specifically
  • The DOT collaborates with other entities like the state DOT on projects like converting the Sheridan Expressway into a local street with added greenery
  • The DOT would need to compile data on the different types of projects to provide complete details

All of us getting most of the time about new streets, new media, new sidewalks going up, Just curious how many have we created more or less than the last year and how many have included greenery.
Margaret Forgione
1:37:35
How many medians in particular have we created?
1:37:37
Is that your question?
Oswald Feliz
1:37:38
Whether it's mediums or new sidewalk space.
1:37:42
Generally, when street space has very little to no value, they turn into sidewalk.
1:37:45
So how many of those have we built or expanded and how many include gonorrhea?
Margaret Forgione
1:37:50
Okay.
1:37:50
So we have a number of capital projects either ongoing or completed with DDC.
1:37:57
We can provide that information.
1:37:58
Obviously, we have lots of plazas.
1:37:59
We bring greenery into all of the plazas.
1:38:03
We have, as I mentioned, very few standalone median projects, so it's very hard to pull that out.
1:38:09
We collaborate with a lot of entities.
1:38:10
1 of their local and the Bronx I wanted to mention was we did a lot of work with state DOT on the Sheridan, turning the Sheridan from an expressway into a local street, and there was a tremendous amount of greenery that was added to that as well.
1:38:24
So we have like a lot of different irons in the fire, but they're all they're all different types of projects.
1:38:28
So we'd have to put that together for you.
Oswald Feliz
1:38:31
Thank you.
