The DOT provides extensive information on cycling in NYC on its website.

  • The DOT collects cycling data itself using sensors and counts.
  • It also gets cycling counts from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
  • The DOT reports on cycling activity over bridges annually.
  • It compiles this data into yearly cycling plans for bike lanes and greenway development in underserved areas.

I know you've listed a variety of areas where we are aggregating this data and putting it out for public consumption, is there a specific report or analysis that the agency does that reflects anything surrounding cycling or cycling activity or any breeds are bridges most frequently biked on.
1:26:01
Is there a study or is there a report that goes out to the mayor, to the city council, or to the public?
1:26:07
That's aggregated information into a report, either quarterly, annually, biannually, anything like that.

Yes.
1:26:16
So speaking about our cycling information, on our website, we have pretty extensive information concerning cycling in the city.
1:26:27
We have information that we collect ourselves.
1:26:30
We do counts using sensors.
1:26:33
We also do some counts that we get from the department of health and mental hygiene.
1:26:42
And we're constantly updating that information.
1:26:45
We also have information on how the bridges that we collect every year.
1:26:52
In addition, some of the work that we do is that we base our cycling plans on also has to do with development of greenways, parts of the city that have been underserved for cycling, and that we're trying to encourage more cycling in the future and we sort of package all of this together and we put together our yearly cycling plans for both conventional lanes and parking protected or other protected bike lanes.
