- Identify and propose community equity priorities for inclusion in citywide and agency racial equity plans
- Assess and make recommendations on the administration's racial equity plans
- Track and publicly report on agency and citywide compliance with the racial equity planning process
- Receive and address complaints about agency conduct that may exacerbate racial equity disparities
- Respond to requests from the City Council Speaker and committees regarding racial equity concerns

In recognition of these inequities, the New York City charter outlines 5 pathways for core.

First, our commission must identify and propose community equity priorities and outcome indicators relevant to the well-being of community members for possible inclusion in the upcoming city wide and agency racial equity plans in accordance with the equity planning schedule.

2nd, following the releases of the administration's primary preliminary citywide racial equity plan and of the citywide racial equity plan, the commission shall make a public statement assessing the extent to which the plan is responsive to community equity priorities and make recommendations on strategy, indicators, and goals set forth in the plan.

3rd, Core will track and publicly report on the agency and citywide compliance with the racial equity planning process.

4th, we will receive complaints about agency conduct that may have the effect of exacerbating racial equity asparities, and we will make recommendations to agencies to address such complaints where appropriate.

Lastly, KORE is mandated to respond to the request of the Speaker of the Council and its committees regarding racial equity concerns.
