I want to commence speaker Adams, my colleagues on the budget negotiating team, and every council member who stood up and fought for the investments that are critical for protecting our City's future.

As sanitation chair, I'm very proud to say that we're restoring community composting with $6, 245, 000, 000 and enhancing litter basket services with $25, 000, 000.

This is a big, big deal.
0:35:45
We're all tired of having to navigate around trash and overflowing trash cans on our sidewalks.
0:35:50
And as we gear up for curbside composting in the fall, we're going to count on community composters to make sure that that investment pays off.
0:35:58
With this budget, we're doing more than taking out the trash.
0:36:01
We're going to expand access to affordable housing.
0:36:04
We're going to protect mental health through new funding for our club houses.

Emma Bone in in in Harlem will now manage to survive.

Thanks to this council.

We're going to give more people access to public transit through Fairfares, and we're going to open our libraries 7 days a week.
0:36:21
For the most part, we can let out a side of relief.
0:36:25
The fight we endure to protect these services highlights a larger issue.
0:36:30
Our city governments should be focused on progress and growth, not on survival.
0:36:35
We should be looking forward investing in our communities and building a better future.
0:36:39
Instead, we find ourselves in unnecessary battles over what should be standard uncontested parts of city life.
0:36:46
I want to thank composting advocates for their Tyler's work over the last year.
0:36:51
Your work paid off and I couldn't be more grateful or impressed for all that you've done.
0:36:57
