Jim Wright, representing the American Institute of Architects, New York (AIA New York), strongly supports the Bronx Metro North rezoning proposal. He emphasizes the plan's focus on transit-oriented development and its potential to create opportunities for higher-density mixed-use development near transit stations while preserving existing neighborhood character.

  • The proposal aligns with city-wide housing goals, including increased residential density near transit, mandatory inclusionary housing, and elimination of parking mandates.
  • Wright acknowledges the extensive community outreach conducted by the city and MTA, resulting in favorable votes from local community boards and the Bronx Borough President.
  • He urges continued community engagement and investments in critical infrastructure to support the rezoning plan's full potential.
