Council Member Lynn Shulman introduces two healthcare-related resolutions in the NYC City Council meeting.
- Resolution 506 calls on Congress to pass the Resident Physician Shortage Reduction Act of 2023
- Resolution 507 urges the New York State Assembly to enact the New York Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act
- The first resolution aims to address the shortage of resident physicians

Today, I am introducing 2 resolutions that are sort of near to each other.

1 is Resolution 506.

It's calling on congress to pass and the president to sign the resident physician shortage reduction act of 2023.

We have an incredible shortage of residents, and I've been working with the committee of interns of residents.

Congress is the one that regulates how many residents there are in each in each locality.

So this is something that's really, really important.

The other one is Resolution507, which is the resolution calling on the New York State Assembly to pass and the governor to sign bill in the legislature to enact the New York Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act.

This Act requires the New York State Department of Health to establish partnerships directly with drug manufacturers to help lower drug costs for consumers and address drug shortages of which there are many, including antibiotics, and chemotherapy for cancer patients.
