These actions involve a series of rezoning together with a re zone and tax amendment that will map mandatory inclusionary housing areas over the re zone areas.

As well as create a special district called the special Eastchester, East Tremont Corridor District.

The proposal also involves several changes to the city's map that would demap some streets and create new street networks and pedestrian plazas.

Together, these actions as we are recommended to modify today are projected to create approximately 7000 new units of housing.
0:02:21
The developers of residential projects in MIA's designated areas will be required to make 20 to 30 percent of the units permanently affordable to families making the average between 40 to 80% AMI.
0:02:36
For a family of 3, this translates to a household income between 56,112,000.

This proposal is an exciting opportunity for the Bronx because we need new housing, especially affordable housing.

And we've just been joined by a majority of leader, man.
0:02:57
If we do not build more housing, communities in the Bronx will continue to get priced out.
0:03:02
So we need to act, but this does not mean we should just build anywhere.
0:03:06
We can act as high as we can.
0:03:10
New buildings have to take into account that the surrounding context and existing residents Development should not be disproportionately bigger than neighborhood's buildings.
0:03:21
Therefore, we are recommending several modifications to these proposals to achieve this balance.
