Freedom agenda is sending this testimony to urge the city council to reject the appointment of Randy Mashador as Corporation Council.

Our members and staff are people who have been directly impacted by the criminal legal system even through their own either do their own incarceration or that of immediate family member.

Our membership includes people who love ones that are currently incarcerated in nudity gels and people who love ones have tragically died on them.

As a survival of rikers and a native New Yorker, I know the abuses of power that so many New Yorkers are subjected to at the hands of law enforcement behind the walls and streets, and it's signaling that these abuses have been changed for so long, from the heinous assault of Admiral Lima by the NYPD, and to the tragic death of Charisma Jones at the head as a DLC last month, the city should be working diligently to end these abuses.

Instead, the Adams administration is trying to take us backward.

Including through a return to broken windows police scene, increasing efforts to block transparency, and accountability to the NYPD, and for DLC, and the largest jail population increase since the Giuliani was made.

We cannot afford this administration to turn the city even more than already had to the races and abusive practices of the Giuliani era.

But those are exactly the policies that Mister Mashal help develop and defend.

He would be joining an administration that has shown disregard for the law, even contempt for laws passed, to limit the harm of the criminal legal system.
