Marcella Williams
1:17:10
Yes.
1:17:10
Good afternoon, everybody.
1:17:11
I've been living in Redhook for 34 years.
1:17:14
And I remember when I first came out to Redhook, there was a bunch of shootings and killings, and you had to hide hide in your bed.
1:17:22
You had to get in your tent.
1:17:23
Your kids didn't wanna go outside to play.
1:17:26
And I remember that it was like that for a long time when we still have a little problems out there because they have no jaws for nobody.
1:17:34
The kids is running around.
1:17:36
The teenagers getting high.
1:17:37
They're killing one another.
1:17:39
In the supermarket, the food over there, you buy some meat, it stinks.
1:17:43
You get to you you buy some letters.
1:17:45
In 2 days, the letters are rotten.
1:17:48
The cucumbers is soft.
1:17:50
You know, it's just a lot going on out there.
1:17:53
And, you know, we need to improve Redhook.
1:17:57
See, I'm getting personal with this right now because it's been a long, long time and why everybody is looking over us.
1:18:04
Why?
1:18:05
We pay rent.
1:18:07
My rent just went up to $700 more, to 1200 something dollars, and I can't get a decent suit market.
1:18:14
I can't the the y'all we can't get enough for our children to have some kind of training.
1:18:18
And program and health centers, things that they need out there.
1:18:22
So what is the problem?
1:18:23
Why everybody could get what they need to get, and we can't get anything?
1:18:28
So I don't think it's fair.
1:18:30
I think if they wanna come in and develop something that's gonna help the community, get them back on their feet, why not?
1:18:36
We got rats running all around our feet.
1:18:39
You got yelling hard for them to run out your site.
1:18:43
You have house and don't come into the work that they supposed to.
1:18:46
Well, I put in a ticket for 2 2018.
1:18:48
Still wait for Plasmin.
1:18:50
Now you count to years, and they and they and they don't even know me because I don't complain.
1:18:56
Couple of times, I complained.
1:18:57
They're like who you are, but I paid my rent faithfully.
1:19:00
So why should we have to suffer?
1:19:02
Why?
1:19:03
Why?
1:19:04
Do our children have to go through these things?
1:19:07
Just get to take your kids outside.
1:19:08
You just get to even go outside sometimes.
1:19:11
They need to do this development, let these people get the jobs, and let these kids do the right thing.
1:19:17
Help help the neighborhood.
1:19:18
Help these young men's and children.
1:19:21
Thank you.
