Today, the committee will vote on resolution number 438, sponsored by council member, Gil Brewer, recognizing landing day in the 2nd week of September annually to commemorate the arrival of the 1st Jewish community in New Amsterdam in 16 54 and to celebrate the continuing importance of the Jewish community in the city of New York.

This resolution honors the group of 23 Separtic Jews that fought for and won expanded rights from the government after facing discrimination and efforts to limit their civil rights.
