Council Member Brooks-Powers inquires about ridership trends for premium-priced ferry services. EDC representatives James Wong and Franny Civitano provide insights on the performance of these services.
- There was an increase in ridership for premium-priced services ($10 rides) during the past summer.
- Some premium services are generating revenue-positive results, helping to reduce subsidies for the rest of the system.
- 10-pack users are taking the ferry more frequently, even with the price increase from $2.75 to $2.90 per ride.
- The pricing strategy has encouraged more frequent use among regular riders.

I just have 2 small questions.
1:25:50
1 for EDC, In terms of the ridership, are we seeing higher ridership for the ones with a price point like a $10 ride?
James Wong

We saw, yes, we saw an increase in ridership for those kind of premium priced services this past summer, which has been really great.
1:26:09
Some of those services are actually creating a revenue positive service.
1:26:15
So that's really great because it helps drive down subsidy for the rest of system.
Franny Civitano

Okay.
1:26:20
But, yep, at 10 pack users, we are seeing that more people who use the 10 pack are taking the ferry more frequently.
1:26:27
And even those same types of riders who were taking the ferry at 275 before, we've induced them to to ride more often.
1:26:35
So we we found that that ridership among 10 pack users is is increased.
