Council Member Joann Ariola introduces a new bill, Intro 1015, which would prohibit the wearing of ski masks in public places in New York City.

She explains that the bill aims to enhance safety by preventing criminals from hiding their identities.

  • The bill defines a ski mask as a close-fitting garment covering the whole head and face with holes for eyes, mouth, or nose.
  • Ariola mentions similar legislation passed in Philadelphia and being considered in other cities.
  • She urges her colleagues to support the bill and thanks her staff for their work in crafting it.
